Consider Your Space
Before purchasing, measure your open plan area to determine the ideal rug size. A large rug should anchor your furniture and define the living space, so ensure it fits comfortably within the layout.
Choose the Right Size
For open plan living, look for rugs that are at least 160x230 cm or larger. This size helps to create a cohesive look and provides ample coverage for furniture arrangement, ensuring that all pieces sit comfortably on the rug.
Material Matters
Select a material that suits your lifestyle. If you have pets or children, durable and washable materials like synthetic fibres or low-pile rugs will be more practical. Natural fibres can add elegance but may require more care.
Non-Slip Features
Ensure the rug has a non-slip backing, especially in high-traffic areas. This will help prevent accidents and keep the rug in place, maintaining a safe environment for family and guests.
Budget Wisely
Rug prices can vary widely. Set a budget that reflects your needs, considering that good quality large rugs can range from £100 to £300. Investing in a quality rug will pay off in durability and style.
Delivery and Care
Check the delivery options and return policy before purchasing. Additionally, consider how easy it is to clean the rug; machine-washable options can save time and effort in maintaining a fresh-looking space.
